The long-cherished dreams of Hyderabadis travelling in metro rail finally became reality with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail project. The ribbon of the 30 km stretch covering Nagole to Miyapur was cut by the Prime Minister along with Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Union minister for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.
The Hyderbad Metro Rail project is one of the biggest public-private partnership projects in the country and is being constructed on a 72-km stretch encompassing three corridors spread across Hyderabad. Officials are making test run between Mettuguda-Begumpet and sources say that the complete test run will be completed in soon.
A day before the inauguration event all the students were assigned particular tasks. They were required to make a list of about 50 questions about the metro services which were asked to the public at 24 different stations. The students prepared incentives of packets filled with sorted chocolates for the publics right answers. Every team got allotted a particular station where they were supposed to ask the questions. After reaching the station students were instructed to interact with the crowd and ask the questions. They encouraged crowd participation by asking the public to perform dances, songs etc.
This entire event gave students a chance to lose stage fear, improve public speaking skills and gave a great opportunity to learn how to strike conversations. The love showed by the Hyderabad crowd to the anchors(our students) at the stations was the extremely heartwarming.
